Turn it in
The first assignment was overwhelming. Can't remember the last time an assignment felt like it will never end. At a point in time I felt like I was being punished. Turn it in frustrated me. I asked myself how else do I rewrite some things, why is it still flagging sentences and phrases after I have quoted and cited the quote. Thank God some of the misconceptions I had were cleared up at the last class. At the end of it I realised the benefits of Turn it in. Actually I'm quite pleased with this technology and I do plan to continue using it, now that I know how it actually works.

Hi Vanessa,
ReplyDeleteOur experiences with 'Turnitin' seem to be quite similar. I could not understand why after checking all my quotes ensuring it was done correctly sentences and phrases were still highlighted. With some enlightenment though I pursued and was able to complete the paper.
Venessa, I assume that you were as intimidated as I was at the prospect of submitting the first assignment on Turnitin. I had never used this website before, and after hearing about it, I perceived that Turnitin was some sort of technological beast that was designed to be the bane of academia. However, after my first submission, I began to appreciate how easy it is to use and that it can help us to develop as better academic writers.
ReplyDeleteI never thought that I would sing the praises of Turnitin. I like the convenience of submitting assignments at home, while still dressed in my nightie. I hope that this would be the mode of submission for assignments in our future courses. Overall, this course has converted me from being a sceptic to a disciple of educational technology.

I am so glad to hear that I not alone in this boat, I honestly can say that turn it in , really "turn me out" like you I told my self what can I do again to get this percentage down, fortunately asking some-one to really explain the process to you helps a great deal, I now understand what Aisha meant by "go ask three before coming to me"and That what I did. Now when I reflect on "turn it in did what it was suppose to do, and that was to make sure that whatever I place on paper I can now back it up with proper citation and references, So in the end, it may be frustrating , but it worth the while.
